Minor @mention admin flaw.

@r-a-y, or any other, I noticed there is a slight flaw in buddypress, for future versions.

When the admin account is created for buddypress, the @mention is “ @admin“. Well @admin does not mention the administrator, because the username of the admin account is different than “ @admin” when creating wordpress, so when any user is mentioning admin, it is different than what it says on the profile.

Example, says “ @admin” on profile, but actual @admin mention does not work unless it is @gunju2221, the account username I have for wordpress.

When the admin account is created for buddypress, the @mention is “ @admin“.

I’m not sure what this means. BP doesn’t create any admin accounts. It uses the same accounts as your WP installation. As long as you have WP 3.0+, you should have had the opportunity to select your admin login name when you signed up.

Can you be more specific about where you are seeing @admin show up incorrectly? In the member header? Or in activity items? Or elsewhere?

What I am talking about is the administrator account. The mention identifier is “ @admin” Right next to name,

My admin account username for wordpress is different, therefore the mention not being correct as “ @admin“, as it shows on my profile.

    Does this make sense?

The @ mention on the member pages is always based on the user’s log-in name. I have just created a tested a new install with an admin account username of “pgibbs”, and it displayed @pgibbs on the member page.

Do I not recall this issue being raised a while ago? Are we talking about the *Default* WP admin acount created at initial signup and of the practice of then changing or masking that accounts displayed name by editing the DB entries?

The @ name always always uses the login name. It shouldn’t matter if it’s changed directly in the database or not.

I have no idea if this is just a issue in my site, but it’s kinda confusing because the “ @admin” does not mention the administrator, the “ @gunju2221” on my site does, because thats my WP username. It’s funky!
