Moving an existing blog inside BuddyPress

Hi, can anyone give me some outline advice on whether you can move an existing WordPress blog “inside” BuddyPress? For example.

1. Domain is http://www.name.com/ with blog posts being named as http://www.name.com/2010/10/filename

2. I now want to install BuddyPress, can I just install it on to of the existing WordPress install?

Only top level advice needed at the moment.
