I’m a total noobie with BP but have a good understanding of WP

I’m on a fresh install of WP 3.0.1 Single Installation and BP (Version 1.2.5.2), no other plugin

the url is http://reemersfamily.com/

I have thicked the membership value to anyone can register at /wp-admin/options-general.php

when someone wants to register, the registration form works till the congrat message, user is able to add an avatar. new user is well added to the wp database with a role as a subscriber but there is no user_activation_key inserted in the database nor there is an email sent.

2 questions:
1° what could I have done wrong in my installation
2° is there a way to manually activate user in that case? cause http://www.reemersfamily.com/activate would not work since there is no activation code to fire

couple of thoughts –

Is your base WP install working correctly – does it send admin emails notification correctly (e.g. when a new user is added in WP backend)? If not, it is a base email configuration problem.

Have you got any additional plugins installed – one of our clients had a problem with a CAPTCHA plugin interfering with the activation process.

If neither of these, there are a number of threads on this site, dealign with the problem of activation emails not being sent – it might be worth searching those.
