Only status update?

Hi, I have buddypress installed, but i would like to know how to get only the status updates to show as well as comments on post. I don’t want the activity to show new member who has joined or when they have made a friend.
What file do i edit and what lines do i edit to do this, and what must i change please help. I have buddypress 1.5 and wordpress 3.2.1
