Removing Main Menu in Custom BP Theme

I am using WP 3.21, BP 1.29 and the Custom Community Pro Theme. Loving WP/BP after moving (escaping) from Ning. The top navigation menu is set too far to the right and left when set in either position. How can I correct this? I would really prefer to not use it at all and use a sidebar menu. Everything else is aligned properly.
The plugins, defaults, custom themes and combinations of WP and BP can be a bit confusing. But I am a quick learner.
