Where do I find the text “posted an update in the group”?

Need to change this copy. I did find it in bp_groups.php but the change had no affect.

Check out this page of the codex to learn how to change any and all messages/labels in BP so they stay changed, even when you update your install (which won’t happen if you simply edit the text in the templates):

I followed the steps provided in the url and the text still does not change. I am using the latest version of buddypress.
