404 errors, changed permalinks and .htaccess

Good day everyone,
trying buddypress for first time here and running into a proplem. I am installing it off a directory off my root domain http://www.padraighs-alehouse.com/mcrack and the wordpress install went fine. I then tried to install buddypress it seemed to install fine the theme comes up went through configuration and changed permalinks and the .htaccess on the root. When I tryo go anywhere or do anything on the theme I get the following ‘backticks’ The requested URL /mcrack/members/cpeters1965/profile/ was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. ‘backticks’

Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you

I’m having the same problem and I am searching through the support posts whithout really getting any help – and neither have you had, it seems… or did you solve the problem yourself?

.htaccess was my problem – http://goo.gl/72UnN this posting had the code needed to make it work
