fwiw you shouldn’t really use that attribute as it’s been long deprecated. How a link is opened is a user issue you as a developer should not force your desire on the end user and their browser, i do not want or allow new windows, if i want to spawn a new window then I will choose that action otherwise I’ll expect my default behavior of a new tab; also new windows is a usability issue for users that are unfamiliar with browsers and they get confused when they find their browser history broken.
