“This is a required field” not showing for multiselectbox

Can someone verify this?
Make a profile field with multiselectbox, add some alternatives, check “required”, try to register without touching it.
On my site, it returns to the registration page without showing any validation error. If I subsequently select an alternative in it, it will succeed.
Anyone experienced this?
