I am trying to get the first 100 characters of a topic post.
So far I have this code:

But that is echoing the full post content wherever I have that code.

In my forums-loop.php I have:
(Didn’t come up on my first post)

I found this confusing thread searching for a way to add the topic starter on my forums index page:

What do I need to have in my bp-custom.php file?
