I could not really solve the problem, but what I did is deactivate the plugin, and then copy the relevant files and functions for autosuggest to my theme folder and it’s started working.

My problem has got resolved.

Changed the following:
if ( bp_is_username_compatibility_mode() ) {
$result-id = $user-user_login;
}
else {
$result-id = $user-user_login;

}
