Buddypress works fine with WP 2.9.2. I am using both.
I am not sure I understand your problem.
Are you saying that you can’t sign in to the site?
Can’t register?
How about posting a link to your site.
I don’t like the WP register/login screen so I use a login with Ajax plugin. -
