I found a plugin that does something similar as usernames only. BP profile privacy lets the admin and user decide which field are visible to only friends or to the public. @r-a-y ‘BP username only’ is a great plugin! There’s a plugin called BP profile privacy which would compliment your work. Where this plugin is lacking is user’s real name still appears instead of their username, even if you configure the plugin to hide this information. Check it out.

@jfarthing84 Great plugin! I noticed a minor bug, if I might call it that way. In ‘Buddypress>general Setting’ there’s a field called ‘Full Name field name’.
I selected to let this field to be only showed to friends. To my amazement a users name will still appear next to their profile. What would be great is instead of displaying the user’s name,…[Read more] -
