    Btw, this is another perfectly executed plugin release :p You’d have thought I would have learned from the group activity stream notifications plugin….

    Important update:

    I missed some folder name changes in a couple of the includes (damn wordpress repository and it’s fancy “being organised” behaviour!).

    As such, please download the plugin again. Alternatively, you can edit bp-groupwiki-main.php and do a find+replace on the following:

    FIND: ‘bp-groupwiki’

    REPLACE: ‘buddypress-group-wiki’

    This should solve the following errors you may have ran into:

    1) No TinyMCE

    2) No CSS for wiki page layout

    3) Frontend page creation not working

    Sorry for the hassle and thanks again to those that have provided feedback :)

    GroupWiki

    Group Activity Stream Notifications (emails)

    Both should be considered beta.

    I might be less busy in a month or so. Feel free to drop me a private message with details and I’ll let you know if/when I’m likely to be able to do anything.

    Yeah, I’ve added it there. Sadly I can’t edit my first post in this thread anymore however :/

    Hi there,

    This plugin does indeed require WPMU. I thought I’d added a note about that to the readme but I can’t see it. I’ll update it now :)

    Another thought I’ve just had is to use group/blog meta data based filtering and modification of the theme to display blogs/pages based on group membership (for students). Any thoughts?

    This can happen sometimes when you upgrade. Clear your cookies for the site and it should go away again.

    Put it up on the wordpress repo with the appropriate tags :)

    I was thinking of making a plugin that would create forums in ways that don’t require group creation/membership…perhaps this is something that shares similar functions to your plugin.

    This has all been extremely useful information and very informative. I would also like to thank those people that have taken the time to PM me with additional info (you know who you are) :)

    I (probably naively) didn’t realise that this was such a hot topic of debate in the community – it’s interesting to get all this background information, especially as someone that until recently hadn’t released a wordpress plugin.

    AGPL sounds good to me. Thanks for that, Jeff Sayre.

    I have nothing against the idea of premium plugins (despite what I said earlier, lol) but my experiences with WPMU Dev Premium have perhaps unfairly prejudiced me against them.

    Either way, AGPL sounds good to me.

    That sounds reasonable.. I’m more than happy for people to modify it as much as they like, so long as they release those improvements to the community.

    Apologies if it sounded like I was being pedantic and/or overly-demanding. I guess I’ve just been burned by ‘premium’ plugins in the past and wanted to make sure I could avoid the issue.

    Doesn’t the point I link to in the GNU GPL preclude people releasing ‘improved’ versions of the software and charging for it?

    If no, it seems almost worth using a more restrictive license and charge people 1 pence to download the plugin or something.

    Yeah, I just noticed that also. GNU GPL appealed to me at first anyhow, so that sounds good unless anyone is aware of anything else that will cause issues :)

    That looks really useful, thanks. Is it as ‘legal’ as the GPL? i.e. enforceable?

    edit: *reads the FAQ/etc* I need to stop being lazy :)

    This site is using a separate bbpress install rather than the BuddyPress inbuilt group forums. That’s why it looks different here.

    Sorry, I know that’s not much help for your problem though.

    @aekeron

    I might be mistaken, but as far as I know there isn’t a ‘global forum moderator’ role in the current version of the BuddyPress forum integration. As such, this could require a plugin to work…

    I’m assuming you’re using the normal BuddyPress->bbpress group integration, not a separate install of bbpress?

    @aekeron

    Ah, I can imagine several people that this would make a great gift for…

    Hi there. Thanks for the feedback :)

    1. That is correct, yes. I have a few plans to streamline this a bit/make it more user-friendly.

    2. Something I’ve missed. I’ll add support for removing elements :)

    3. “added something new to the group” is just what I chose as a general catch-all in the case of the plugin running into an activity type that it doesn’t recognise. Will make this more obvious and customisable.

    4. That should indeed mean no delay. I’ll double-check this and update the wording.

    5. Good point again. I originally made this with hardcoded support for my groupwiki plugin. I’ll get rid of this.

    6. It isn’t at the moment but this is also on the list of things that i want to get in there asap. I’ll let you know as soon as I can get it sorted (shouldn’t be too hard as there isn’t *that* much text in there)

    Thanks again. I’ll check out your site later today :)

    Good to hear. This is something we were thinking of looking at at some point in the future but given just how many things are on our to-do list, I suspect you’ll get something done far sooner and far better :)

    @aekeron

    Participant

    Yes, I should’ve mentioned that this was developed with (at the time) the latest revision of buddypress in the trunk. Make sure your BP revision is more recent than the release of this plugin :)

    Has anyone got any sites they’ve implemented this on that they’d be happy to post a link to? Or any feedback?

    @aekeron

    Also, I’m aware that the functions file is a bit messy at the moment (along with the rest of the code). I’ll be cleaning it up and reorganising it in the future when I get some time :)

    @aekeron

    Participant

    Ah, no worries. If that’s the bit I think it is I only very recently implemented that due to the previous way I was doing it being deprecated. I guess it serves us both right for working with trunk code rather than stable ;)

    @aekeron

    Okay, I’ve implemented the fix Boone suggested. The plugin download should update shortly.

    In the meantime, if anyone wants to quickly fix the the files they’ve already downloaded, do the following:

    In “bp-activity-subscription-main.php” change line 3 to the following:

    require_once( WP_PLUGIN_DIR.'/buddypress-group-activity-stream-subscription/bp-activity-subscription-functions.php' );
