Like foxly said above:
“Also, if you’re planning on being the next Vimeo, Revver, or YouTube, realize what you’re getting yourself into. You’ll need ninja-grade server admin skills to compile and set-up all the video transcoding software, racks of servers, and terabytes of data transfer. It’s not going to be cheap.”

@rickkumar if you aren’t looking to host the videos yourself I don’t see why you would need this plugin. If all the videos are going to be from youtube or vimeo or other sites, you just need to work on your page layouts and design.

@rickkumar No I’m pretty sure all it does is converts the youtube url to an emdbeded video. If you are wanting individual pages for each video, I’ve read a bit about a “group blog” plugin or feature, each group would have its own blog and I would think then members of a group could post articles […]

@rickkumar you know if all you want to do is allow people to embed their videos on your social network, you don’t even need to wait for this plugin, just use

@rickkumar Sounds interesting man, good luck! You might want to go ahead and get a standard Buddypress community going though just to keep the 100 visits a day from loosing interest. You can get a head start on building the community this way, then in a month or two when this media plugin is stable and […]

If your just wanting to build a website for people to post their youtube videos on, you will need to find a niche audience of some kind and create a community around it to give people a reason to post their videos there. You can’t expect people to arbitrarily post videos on your website. The […]

@tonyzeoli Did you switch servers because of Godaddy/Buddypress problems?

So there is no built in way to do this like with WordPress blogs? I’ve looked into the phpadmin and their import export, but either it refuses to import into my new installation what I exported from the old installation, or it just doesn’t do anything at all. From my Godaddy account it has 10 […]

I’m currently hosting a website through GoDaddy and I’ve heard some bad things about them not getting along well with Buddypress. It is currently working fine for a test installation I have setup but after a few months if the actual launched site starts accumulating traffic and users and I start encountering the problems I’ve […]

I read a bit the other day about the future group photos option and I’m not sure if this is way you were planning to set it up or not but I had a suggestion, that instead of uploading photos directly to a group album, users tag photos from their own albums to the group […]

Yeah I remember when I first started learning about WordPress you had to comment out like 3 or 4 lines of php for it to work. But then they started running some Linux servers and WordPress at least worked fine. As far as errors on XAMP and MAMP. I was getting the left aligned page […]

Thanks man, I’ll have to check out that netbeans program. I actually do most web stuff in Word Pad, I’ve been using a trial version of BBedit, my work bought Dreamweaver for me when I started this past winter. I’m mainly a graphic designer and front end developer. I think my problem was testing on […]

1. That is strange, I don’t recall renaming the folder or any reason why I would, but I un-zipped it again and you are right. 2. I’ve never heard of that, is there any away to avoid that? You have to upload files one way or another (I’m using Filezilla) 3. I doubled checked and […]

I just installed it and it crashed the entire site (I deleted the plugin folder and everything went back to normal).
It was a blank white screen that said “Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR in ……..wp-content/plugins/bpalbum/includes/bp-album-core.php on line 686”

I have been designing a customized navigational bar, but I haven’t completely been able to pick apart the bp-core-adminbar.php file to make the links actually work, I’ve only been able to figure out how to get a link to the user’s main account page. Mainly the only thing I personally would need for what I […]
