Thanks all for discussing this..I think it makes sense, if it’s going to remain the fact that you need to join a group (or at least go to the group page to post something) to let people know this when they come to the forum page. I agree it’s nice to have people join groups, etc, but if they don’t know what they are supposed to do, they will simply leave and go to another site where it’s more usable and clear.
thanks..yes, I noticed that, but if someone goes to the forum (and not to a specific group) they don’t see any way to post a topic….should there be a way?
thanks..ok, so this is a weird concept of a forum since it excludes members who want to belong to the community and not want to be in a group. I hope someone changes this is the next build.
Thanks..actually, I meant the folder you specified (so the files were in the correct folder). I just deactivated a plugin and it seems to be working right now…will wait until later to make sure that was it. thanks again.
ok..thanks..let me know if you need a beta tester or anything..I think this is real important feature for any social media platform that wants to be widely accepted in the market.
I have done everything people appear to be saying, but still don’t get the translation (a very simple change from Avatar to Photo. I made the .po and .mo (using PoEdit) and uploaded them to the server
buddypress-Alumni.po and .mo are in the /bp-languages folder and the bp_custom.php is the /plugs/buddypress folder, with this code
<?php
define( ‘BPLANG’, ‘Alumni’ );
if ( file_exists( BP_PLUGIN_DIR . ‘/bp-languages/buddypress-‘ . BPLANG . ‘.mo’ ) ) {
load_textdomain( ‘buddypress’, BP_PLUGIN_DIR . ‘/bp-languages/buddypress-‘ . BPLANG . ‘.mo’ );
}
?>
Last step seems to be reloading Buddypress (although I’m not sure how to do this).
Any clue what I should be doing differently to get this to work?
Thanks
