@hnla : Yes disabling adminbar for nonlogged in users leaves a blank space, check this image http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/4278/whitespaceu.jpg
Users not logged in are guest user :)

@karmatosed : with buddypress default theme it works absolutely OK. No problem at all.

@hnla : as for this issue the home page is displayed in a odd way , so I have enabled the admin bar for guests for the time being ….
I’m doing all the testing in my demo install in localhost …
after the issue is resolved, I will agian disable the adminbar for guests … :)

    @hnla
    Thank for your help
    I’m using wp 3.0.1 and bp 1.2.6 , with theme named “Blogs-mu”
I’m tried putting the code snippet provided by you in the function.php of the theme file which didn’t worked,
and also tried putting the code in bp-custom.php in plugins directory , which too didn’t helped
actually it happen nothing , no errors also , so it seems to me I’m pasting the code correctly !

@abarro – disablng the 25px top padding from admibar.css will cause some overlapping if the theme header have some thing else at that near top position, but for your case its ok because you have disabled the adminbar completely.

Yes all files and folder structure is intact , I have copied adminbar.css and both ajax.php/js files
But no I am not using custom admin bar, haven’t change anything related to adminbar colour , text etc. from the theme option

:D actually I don’t understand what exactly is causing the issue..

Thanks again Tammie for your valuable time , and helping me out …
and yes I was facing some problems :) , and I did an update to the blogs-mu theme and trying it out on a demo install … Thanks for your valuable suggestions :)
Now it seems to work ok except ….
now I am jumbled up with a single issue , and yet it became a nightmare … :D

After updating to buddypress 1.2.6 from 1.2.5.2 , my site does not show admin bar for guest user(as admin is disabled for loggedout users) , instead inplace it shows a white space …

Logged in users can view the admin bar correctly , but non-loggedin users or guest users cannot see the admin bar , instead of the admin bar there is a white space in place … !!!

    http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/4278/whitespaceu.jpg

check this image, see in image, just below the address bar there is a white space , its the 25 px padding for the admin bar …
This started happening just after upgrading to bp 1.2.6 , (with and without updating blogs-mu theme)

if the admin bar visibility is turned on for loggedout users , the admin bar is displayed correctly , otherwise a white space of 25px…

It was not happening with bp 1.2.5.2 , then it was fine.

Can you kindly help me out with this issue , Please tell me what needs to be done, I would be very greatful …

    Thanks Tammie ….

Yes I have checked , Its working ok with BP default theme …
I’m using Blogs-mu theme , and after updating I am seeing this problem , even when admin bar is disabled for guests that white space is visible ?
as for details what would be required ?
as for example here is the screen shot for the home page of my website , in the image look just below the address bar , a white space is visible ?
    http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/4278/whitespaceu.jpg

what more detail can I provide ? please mention
    Thanks

It nice to hear that your issue is solved :)

I don’t know much but I think one nice option would be to comment out or remove the Blog creation details section from the register.php file of your theme.

    register.php file residence : yourtheme/registration/register.php

blog creation details section on register.php would be approx : from line no. 169 to line no. 201

or simply comment out line no. 173
    or the line with

    <?php _e( 'Blog Details', 'buddypress' ) ……

    and line no. 175
    or the line with

    <input type="checkbox" name="signup_with_blog" i …………………….

This may solve your issue with keeping the blog registration open but stopping new people from registering it from the register page of your site.

    Thanks for your reply Tammie.
by seeing the trac it seem to me that css edit for Blogs-mu theme is not necessary , I dont know but I guess so , please help , as css are fully theme specific …

Other that the css , .php file should be edited/changed for full support , and furthur upcoming plugin supports . Am I right ?

But let me ask one thing : presently without changing anything else(other than mentioned in the first post) , I have checked with my site and it working completely ….
What happens if I do not make those changes then ?

Thanks tammie for you time :)

    @anindyaray

    Yes I am really a novice … :)
Thank to @karmatosed and @DJPaul for you suggestion …
I use the theme named Blogs-Mu … and my subscription to the theme source(WPMU DEV) has expired …
    :D , and I’m a bit short of cash :D
So , I’m out of luck now ..
But the link you provided is very help full …
    Thanks again, both of you

Let me ask a question : I have checked the trac link provided by @DJPaul and found most similarity with old codes for bp default theme and Blogs-mu theme . Will making changes, according to the trac, suffice the need ? or is there anything extra that should be done ?

Please help ? This is a question of life :D

I have tested this in localhost with BP 1.2.5.2 / WP 3.0.1 …. firstly it showed warning and crashed , then by adding the plugin name to the file it seems to work fine.

    @netweblogic Thanks

yes I have visited the authors forum found no actual solution , approx 4 month ago somebody asked there the same question , and the answer from the author was as follows :
    ____________________________________________________________________________________
    Hi,
Sorry, if I answered this in another method. I can’t recall. But this looks like you either did one of two things:
    1. Have a space at the end of your bp-chat/chat/config.php file or
    2. You didn’t chmod 777 your bp-chat/config directory
    ____________________________________________________________________________________

it didn’t worked for me ; firstly there is no config.php chat directory , its actialy is under chat/lib directory ………
and as I’m using it in localhost windows host the option 2. is not needed … but in case of option 1. there was no extra space in the lib/config.php , yet it didn’t worked….

I visited the authors profile here , but it seems the author in inactive for a certain time as its showing no recent activity .

this version of buddypressajaxchat is said to be working fine with wp 3.0 , but I have also tried it with wp 3.0, but again didn’t worked ……..

any solution would be much appreciated as I’m craving for this plugin as there no much self-hosted chat for buddypress…..

p.s. = Phpfreechat plugin – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/phpfreechat/ – is working very fine with the present version of wp and bp

it show up here in buddypress.com but not in my installation ….

    what should I do ….

Yes , I know about that plugin..
    But I don’t have much of a budget ..
so would like to get a code edit option, which would be costless :)

    Edit: Got a Solution

Under the “Super Admin” menu is an “Options” link, on the options page is a setting called “First Comment Author” – The author of the first comment on a new site., this setting controls the value you see ie. “Mr WordPress”..

    Voila Enjoy !!!
