@pisanojm @blackphantom with Buddystream, is there a way to associate a blog feed / rss feed to a profile, in addition to the social feeds Buddypress associates with a profile. Or would this be something you guys would consider adding. It would be quite useful. Please let me know. Your good response is greatly appreciated.

@boonebgorges would BP External Activity be a good plugin for associating a feed with a profile. Or is there any solution that could work kind of like a way to associate a blog feed / rss feed to a profile, kind of like Buddystream associates social feeds with a profile. Your good response is greatly appreciated.

Never-mind, found what I was looking for. (https://buddypress.org/community/groups/third-party-components-plugins/forum/topic/new-pluginexternal-member-blogs)
Now just wondering if that plugin can associate member feeds with a group or category (kind of like Digg). The hopes continue š

Hello Dwenaus, thanks for the response. We’ll look at some temporary solutions. Please let me know if you get time available. Or if anyone else is up for making this kind of adjustment.

this would be possible, but would be a customization to the plugin that I would not incorporate into the main plugin code. I’m too busy to take on any work at this moment, but I believe there are others in the community that can help you out if you’re not a programmer. good luck.

you might also be able to do this in a non secure way just with css. insert the user’s username into some wrapper div or the body element, then hide the create post form for all users then show it for admin.

@r-a-y I tried out your fix for the Embedly plugin. That fix was required for it to work.
I got it to work alright. This may be a basic question, but how do you limit the size of images / media embeded.
Seemed like oEmbed for Buddypress took care of this through the Activity streams. But Embedly doesn’t.
I tried changing the Blog Settings > Media…[Read more] -

Hallelujah r-a-y! It Worked! Check out the results: http://www.vybee.com/groups/hopscotch
.
Also wanted to figure out how to get other sites whitelisted (embedding media) like SmugMug, etc.
I tried the whitelist option in the php file, but no luck before, has that changed with this beta? Please let me know. Diggin’ the plugin’!

Terminology is wrong… “whitelist” is actually a blacklist! d’oh!
The terms are corrected in the 0.6-beta.To add additional providers, please read the accompanying readme.txt.
You can probably add support for Smugmug with the Embedly plugin.
Currently, there’s a bug with Embedly, though I have added a fix for it…[Read more]

@r-a-y … Hey Ray, I’d really like to have oEmbed for Buddypress working with some external blog feeds we’re pulling in with @apeatling‘s External Blogs Plugin… We have a whole host of image links coming through two festivals. Both plugins work fine. But is there any way to have these links show up as embeded media even if they’re not directly…[Read more]

As it is, WP & BP are powered by an open-source community. The core team from my understanding gets paid to make sure the core works for further development by the open-source community. At Vybee.com, we’re working on BP network building and support solutions for clients. We count on the open-source extendability of this community but also on our…[Read more]

This integration is not on the “radar” so to speak. I am currently using this plugin to accomplish this:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/third-party-components-plugins/forum/topic/new-pluginexternal-member-blogs
If you would like this integrated into BuddyStream it can be done and we do accept small contracts for iitems developed.
@Pisanojm – Thanks so much for your good response. I’m going to look into the suggested plugin a bit more. It would be cool to see all of these feed style features in one plugin. And I may have some other contract ideas for you guys.
