Actually I was talking to Chris 🙂 I’m pretty sure you don’t have to change anything in your plugin to let people protect groups/courseware pages with S2Member.

It’s as easy a restricting certain URI for payed members only.

What do you want to do with S2Member exactly? If you only want to restrict access to courseware groups based on a user level or S2Member custom capability, it should work perfectly. What Roger says is right.. that’s the way to go.. you can also use the conditional tags to display certain sidebars on certain components only:
