BP doesn’t try to do anything when WordPress regenerates its permalinks. Does disabling BuddyPress “fix” the problem?

Probably just because how it was written three years ago. If you’ve got a time machine handy… 😉

No — BuddyPress is just a WordPress plugin, so if you disable user registration, it’s off, everywhere. User accounts are shared across all plugins.

Maybe a PHP error or notice (I’ve seen that happen before). Is there anything in the PHP log?
