The search being broken is pretty annoying, and we’re aware of this. Until we can get it fixed, you’ll need to do a google site: query, like @aces suggests.

If you can, upgrade to BuddyPress 1.5.5 (just released this morning). There’s a fix for multisite avatar, and I’d love to know if it fixes your problem or not.

Did you activate the plugin “network wide”? Maybe you can activate it just for the site that it’s running on, rather than for the entire network.

Each group needs to have 1 admin at any time. Go to Admin > Members, in your group, and promote a new user to be a group admin, then demote the existing admin.
