Paul Gibbs posted on the forum topic Can You Have A Default Friend? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 14 years, 9 months ago
Welcome Pack should do this (default friend, I think it’s called). I am aware I have been negligent with regards to updating Welcome Pack, and I will be doing so once BuddyPress 1.3 goes beta (couple of weeks or so, max).

Now’s the time to test it. Let me know if adding a hook or filter in core would help.

Your message is not specific. What exactly doesn’t work?

Paul Gibbs posted on the forum topic Where in the WP admin do I chose my custom BBForums Template? in the group Installing BuddyPress: 14 years, 9 months ago
You know, I’m not sure. But I would be pretty confident to guess that you activate the bbp-twentyten in the same place as any regular WordPress theme. After all, it is a WordPress theme.
This question is also more suited for bbPress.org forums, as it’s not to do with BuddyPress. Thanks!

Hi @markaduffy BuddyPress and bbPress are separate pieces of software, which both require WordPress to use. BuddyPress uses bbPress for its Groups’ forum functionality. It’s quite possible that the patch doesn’t actually work. I suggest you write a comment on that bug and say the patch doesn’t work

You need to find the links in the templates, and add ‘target=”_new”‘ to the links (if I’m understanding you correctly).

Paul Gibbs posted on the forum topic Calling Loop in custom Page template? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 14 years, 9 months ago
You’re not calling any BuddyPress-specific tags in that code sample, so you might have better luck asking for support on the WordPress.org forums. However, you say that you “canβt query up the loop!” What output are you getting, and what output do you expect?

Chouf1’s probably thinking of the upcoming 1.3 release of BuddyPress, which does indeed make this easy. Where did you get the bp_mystique_july theme from? Does that theme’s author offer support, or have a contact email address?

Paul Gibbs posted on the forum topic Manually Activating Users? Is it a case of just changing the 2 to a 0? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 14 years, 9 months ago
I think so. Anything else should be created when those users log in (that’ll be when they also start appearing in the members directory, etc).

If you’re familiar with PHP, read through /buddypress/bp-groups/bp-groups-templatetags.php, or look in the theme that comes with BuddyPress and work backwards

I’m not sure what this has to do with BuddyPress. You’re best to contact the author of the SMTP plugin that you’re using for support, or to post on the wordpress.org forums.

Hmm, that’s useful to know. As soon as BP 1.3 goes beta (soon), I’m going to update Achievements for it, so that’s useful info. Thanks

It’s a beta plugin clearly marked as experimental π It was built on WordPress 3.2, and BuddyPress 1.3-dev, so there may well be backwards-incompatibilities with BuddyPress 1.2.8 or WordPress 3.1.x. It could very well be because of a conflict! Are there any errors in your web server’s error log that might be related? (unlikely, but […]

As long as you haven’t edited the core BuddyPress files, you should be able to delete the BuddyPress plugin folder, and reinstall it. It comes with a copy of bp-default, which should clear your error.

I think that’s mostly rubbish in this day and age. Every decent browser supports placeholder, and a lot of other HTML5 features. HTML’s moved away from a “what’s in this version of the specs” to a “what does your browser support” model.

Forget all that. Use the HTML5 placeholder attribute.
