BuddyPress.org

I’m not sure the current BP-Default theme is suited to front-end blog posting; it doesn’t make sense for all themes. We’re quite close already, as we could re-use the post box on the activity stream page as a starting point. Maybe we could template it out a bit.

Another option in your theme is changing the relevant template(s) to specify a number of items in the activity stream to show; see https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-activity-stream-loop/ for API documentation.

I agree that if an user tries to log in, who hasn’t activated their account yet, there should be more help in the default theme; there’s nothing stopping you from building this into a custom theme right now. How do you want users to submit their logos? Upload an image or supply a link to an external site? If the latter, where do you want the user to input the link? On a separate page, or on their user profile?

I get the feeling that’s half of what you meant to post — do you need help importing users into WordPress, or were you sharing a tip?

I think that’s unlikely to happen, but I’d be interested to know what you want from the WordPress dashboard that you want in the BuddyPress front end?

If you purchase me a copy of the Social theme from WPMU-Dev, I’ll take a look at it and help out. Otherwise, I don’t intend to buy it from WPMU-Dev at the moment. You could share the URL of your site and I can see if I can figure it out from over here?

It’s a good idea, the only reason it is not in at the moment because it is technically complex how to integrate it. Hoping to have some time over Christmas to look at this!

I have none of these details, but I do know HyperDB works with BuddyPress. It is in use on this site.

I believe that constant sets the default page for the /members/admin profile link, not the root of the site. In the current version of BuddyPress you will have to write some custom code to set forums as your front page, but in the upcoming 1.3 version we have fixed this in core.
