Yep, it’s a bug. Already fixed in BP 1.2.7, due out in a couple of days time. See https://trac.buddypress.org/changeset/3374 for the fix if you want to edit core now.

Not really. You could probably hack core to do this but it’d be a lot of effort.

What versions of WordPress and BuddyPress are you using?

In my loader.php, I hook into ‘bp_include’ and include a main file. In that other file, I use ‘bp_setup_globals’ for globals and ‘bp_setup_root_components’ to register the root component. Something to keep in mind is that any change to bp-default will require a lot of child themes to be updated by a lot of designers. I imagine we’ll do a new default theme around the BP 1.4-1.5 timeframe.

I’ve had that plugin kill lower-spec servers of mine before.

The plan is to get 1.2.7 this week and 1.3 early Jan. If someone wants to contribute a patch to support these post formats into BP-Default, that’d be cool (I haven’t checked myself yet to see what is required).

What versions of WordPress and BuddyPress are you using? Which theme? What other plugins are installed?

Did you download and install bbPress separately, or did you install bbPress from within BuddyPress?

If you did install it separately, do you want to do an external integration of the forums? For example, http://example.com/group/some-group/forum as well as http://forums.example.com ?

At the moment, Forums exists inside of Groups. Have you tried to create a new Group, do you get a forum tab?
