xprofile is the internal name, if you like, of the bit of code that provides the Extended Profile Fields component.

So basically categories would just help you style the front-end so that they can be browsed in a directory on your site?

Hi John

Change front page via Administration > Settings > Reading panel. You may have to edit your theme’s header.php to remove the “home” link. “About” is the name of the WordPress page of the same name, so just delete it.

If it’s the main navigation menu item you’re referring to, I’d just edit header.php of your theme. If it’s another menu, clarify which 🙂

The OP is asking for the blog URL part to be after the /members/membername part. Even if root profiles is set, the blog itself won’t be as required.

No idea. Certainly is going to involve hacking something somewhere. I was going to suggest that you try changing the permalink_structure option (or filter $wp_rewrite) but, even if that worked, you’d still need to be be able to dynamically put the username into it, and then perhaps other links in BuddyPress might break (not sure). […]
