You’d have to display or scrape the HTML – there’s no external interfaces for the BP data yet, other than RSS for forums etc.

That’s a serialize()’d array, which is a storable representation of a value. It looks like an array. You need to un-serialize it. You don’t need to use a direct SQL query for that, either, and if you were, you need to use $wpdb->prepare() for security. But I’d suggest doing it like so: $your_var = maybe_unserialize( [...]

As a rule of thumb, if something is in a -templatetags.php file, then it was designed to be used somewhere on a theme template. And if it isn’t in -templatetags.php, then it probably shouldn’t be used on a theme template.

Comments I could see as being forum posts (espc. if you have threaded comments), but why/what about the Posts?
