This mixes buttons which provide functionality vs those which filter the current view (irrelevant of AJAX).

I’m 99% the group widgets were something that was never fully? implemented, or the logic in the templates have always been incorrect. I’m not sure what the intention with them was.

If inbox/sent/starred controls the message list view, those controls need to be above the message list.

I like. For a stream made from only one user’s content (e.g. user profile activity stream), we can probably not show a version where the avatar isn’t displayed.

Mercime’s pretty much right. There might be ways to use a custom post type with user meta, but revising the structure of the profile fields database tables isn’t a current priority.
