Another option is to ask your web host if there are any error messages in the PHP error log on the server.

If bbPress 2 does not add activity stream entries to your activity directory (e.g. example.com/activity), you need to also post about this on the bbpress.org forum.

BuddyPress doesn’t use WP roles for anything, other than “is this user an admin” checks we have everywhere.

@pescholar What were/are you using to register users? Any third party authentication plugins (i.e. Facebook), or just everything built in?

@aces Yes, but it wasn’t obvious to me that setting the user_id to -1 would stop it matching against profle field data with user_id = 0, as I didn’t expect that situation to ever occur! 🙂

Nope. But when BP 1.6, you can use bbPress 2 for both group and site wide forums, and it comes with backend admin panels.
