Strike that. I had a duplicate functions.php file (one in my child theme, and another in the BP Templates folder.
Gotta make that custom functions.php one of these days…

Just upgraded to Buddypress 1.2.7 with Wp 3.0.3. Looks like something in the updated comment section conflicts with the_post_thumbnail()
that’s the custom post thumbnail that can be activated in a post. -

As for the usernames, I just added a note to the field that appears on registration. When people are signing up, and that mandatory username field pops up, I make sure users know that this is visible to the entire community. That way they know not to use something private. Is there an easy way to see all of a user’s likes?

Pretty easy. Just create some custom registration fields for each of the categories you want to collect. You can make them mandatory if you want, too.
Then to make things private you can use the BuddyPress Private Community plugin, and that would prevent prying eyes from seeing things they shouldn’t.

gfield assistance-
Ok – So I’m a total noob when it comes to php and databases. I’m much more of a HTML and CSS guy. But, Buddypress has allowed me to get a great site up and running, and for that I am SO thankful.
I need a bit of help with a modification I’m doing with the groups. I wanted to add a custom field to the groups. So I used the…[Read more]

Ehegwer started the forum topic redirect to profile after registration in the group BuddyPress Private Community: 14 years, 1 month ago
Just installed the plugin and it works great.
I’ve got the plugin set-up to show only the registration page first, and wanted to know if its possible to have them redirect to the profile page after they register and log in.

This is my first pass, and I’m getting a T-string error on the last line – FWIW, I have no Idea if this is the correct path, but it makes sense to me
function add_profile_updates_to_activity_feed(){
global $bp;
}
$bp_member_profile_data( ‘birthday’ )bp_activity_add( ‘$bp_member_profile_data’,’add_profile_updates_to_activity_feed’)
