    @djpaul any advice?

    I’m actually thinking about dropping buddypress if this doesn’t get itself fixed.

    @mercime any advice?

    Also about my original question too (The problem still isn’t fixed), are polls and “likes” hard to make?

    @esploded

    Member

    Thanks @mercime for the advice, but it still won’t work! ARGH.
    Setup:
    Single WP, MAMP (mac server), Not on a domain yet, but is on the root of MAMP/htdocs/wordpress
    I did all of the steps above, but still no use. I hate you “There are no posts for this topic.”!

    Also, what do you mean by I didn’t “install/active BP in a subfolder/subdomain”? My buddypress site just has a tab under “community” which leads to the groups, forums, etc.

    @mercime anything you can do to help?

    WP- 3.2.1
    BP- 1.2.9
    Single WP
    Normal 1-step install of bbPress.

    Are there any known plugins that will mess with bbPress?

    @esploded

    One thing- I don’t seem to have any databases (according to WP-DBmanager plugin) that have to do with BBpress. It says in a different forum topic that I should have
    “wp_bb_forums
    wp_bb_meta
    wp_bb_terms
    wp_bb_term_relationships
    wp_bb_term_taxonomy
    wp_bb_topics”

    if this is the problem, how do I add these databases?

    Anyone?
    If it’s difficult, please suggest a forum plugin/service that I could use.
    I desperately need the ability to “like” somebody’s forum post, as well as create polls.
    (it still must integrate with groups and be private to anybody not allowed to access it)

    Sorry to post so much, but I found what the problem was. It’s a plugin called “Permalink Fix & Disable Canonical Redirects Pack”. It was really useful because I can use MAMP + wordpress on firefox, but it went rogue.

    So now here’s the new problem: How do I work on my wordpress/buddypress on firefox? Because now I get this like before:

    “The page isn’t redirecting properly.
    Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.”

    @djpaul @Stigmartyr all right, I think this isn’t a permalinks issue. I deleted ALL of my posts, making my homepage naked except for the slideshow (now empty), menu bar and widgets. Now when I click on a page (say about), I get

    Quote:
    Not Found

    Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here.

    Any ideas on what the problem is?
    Or should I create a new topic?

    More specifics…
    for example, if I press the “about” page from the menu bar, it goes to http://localhost/wordpress/category/betas/
    BUT what it shows it the homepage. Is it possible this is not a permalinks issue? (sorry, I should’ve said this earlier, but it still redirects the data to the homepage, just not the url)

    @djpaul What specifically would you like to see?

    Under my htaccess file, I have

    bp-maintenance.php
    bps-maintenance-values.php
    default.htaccess
    deny-all.htaccess
    maintenance.htaccess
    secure.htaccess
    wpadmin-secure.htaccess

    default.htaccess looks like this:

    `# BULLETPROOF .46.D >>>>>>> DEFAULT .HTACCESS

    # If you edit the line of code above you will see error messages on the BPS status page
    # WARNING!!! THE default.htaccess FILE DOES NOT PROTECT YOUR WEBSITE AGAINST HACKERS
    # This is a standard generic htaccess file that does NOT provide any website security
    # The DEFAULT .HTACCESS file should be used for testing and troubleshooting purposes only

    # BEGIN WordPress

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index.php$ – [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]

    # END WordPress
    `

    Do the plugins I run have to do with this?
    It happened suddenly- though I don’t remember running any new plugins.

    @Stigmartyr

    I’m using MAMP which is a local hosting application for Mac.
    It runs Apache and MySQL.

    @esploded

    Meant @djpaul
    sigh.
    delete and edit on buddypress.org is not functioning

    @esploded

    Member

    Here are more specifics about the problems.

    -All pages redirect to home
    -When clicking on a specific group, it redirects to home
    -When clicking on a specific forum topic, it redirects to home
    -Friends, general groups, general forums and activity stream work fine

    @Paul Gibbs (sorry edit on the forums aren’t working)

    @Stigmartyr
    Thanks for the article. I will play around with that.
    The permalinks structure that you used doesn’t work on mine unfortunately; I just get redirects to my homepage.

    @Paul_Gibbs

    My site is not live, I’m building it on MAMP.

    Buddypress 1.2.9, WordPress 3.2.1.
    I’m not using Multisite.
    Is IIS the thing microsoft makes? If so, no, I use a mac.

    But aren’t the ‘appropriate files’ bb-config.php which are automatically generated?

    @esploded

    Member

    Oh, all right.
    So I just download the patch, and open it?
    I assumed I could just change the code from bb-config.php

    @esploded

    anyone?

    @esploded

    Member

    WP and BP are all up to date.
    I’m using MAMP, so I don’t know how to find the error logs.
    I did change the code in bb-config.php
    This is really annoying.

    Is it possible to use a different forum service and integrate it into groups?
    I might go that route, because this forum app doesn’t have much functionality anyways…

    @esploded

    I’m really sorry :(
    I posted this in the wrong forum section.

    I’m completely new to programming-
    Is a poll plugin difficult to create?
    And by ‘use buddypress seperately’ does that mean that I should use it as a plugin and link buddypress to it?

    @esploded

    Member

    I want to be able to create sub categories, polls, as well as advanced sorting of the threads.

    I also am experiencing a bug (or just a weird error) when I click a thread, it just says
    “There are no posts for this topic.”

    One more thing – are there any plugins that allow for advanced settings for groups?

    @esploded

    Member

    Thanks for the answer.
    So in these cases, should I just pay somebody to make one for me?
    Or is it even possible?
