gregfielding posted on the forum topic Is there a way to show different content depending on profile fields? in the group Creating & Extending 13 years, 4 months ago
Looks much cleaner, but still isn’t working. I tried using a radio button and that didn’t work either.
What I’m trying to do should be simple 🙂
If you are a professional, you get one sidebar. If you are a civilian, you […]

‘if($type_member == ‘Yes’)…`
Either way, even if I create a second function, It isn’t recognizing the profile field.
This seems fishy to me. Is $type_member really the way to call a profile field entry? Or could it […]

@pcwriter – replacing “Yes” with “1” didn’t work – was that what you meant?
@nahummadrid – yes, that works.

Thanks @nahummadrid

Did you ever figure this out? I’m trying to do the same thing… -

For example, using if/then statements, if a member’s favorite color is red, they see sidebar A, and if it’s blue, sidebar B.
I’ve been searching quite a bit and it doesn’t appear that there are buddypress conditional tags […]

Here’s an article by Yoast where we explains how to add rel=”me” to standard WP profiles. Any thoughts on how we could incorporate this into BP Profiles?
I’m assuming it could be as simple as a short snip of code that adds […]

I would like my members to use activity stream updates as the would blog posts. One big problem is the lack of “title” and “tag” fields.
Here on this forum, there are title and tag fields – has anyone tried adding these to activity stream updates?

gregfielding posted on the forum topic How to add Google Author recognition to Profiles and Activities? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 13 years, 4 months ago
Playing with this more, it looks like there are 2 parts to making this work. First, we need rel=”author” attributes on all of the links that go to the profile pages. entry.php, single.php, etc. Second, there should be a link from the profile page to a member’s google profile, with a rel=”me” attribute.

Playing more with the google author code, it is definitely good for SEO to have a google profile xprofile field, with a rel=”me” attribute.
Any ideas on how to assign this?
Thanks!

I was reading this post by Yoast: http://yoast.com/highlighting-wordpress-authors-search/ It seems that the rel=”author” attribute will be built-in to WP 3.2 – which will be great for blog authors, but won’t by itself support buddypress Profiles and Activities (permalink.php). Here is his solution to add to regular WP blogs: `function…[Read more]

gregfielding started the forum topic How do I structure my site for different languages like Facebook? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 13 years, 4 months ago
I’ve tinkered with transposh, which is a cool plugin, but I want to create real, built-in multi-language support the way that Facebook does. If you geo to facebook.de, it redirects you to http://de-de.facebook.com/. Facebook.es goes to http://es-es.facebook.com/ and so on. Of course, they show in english for me, I’m assuming because of cookies.…[Read more]
