Thanks for the find. I’m trying it out now, giving the site/activity/ page and site/members/ page priorities of 1 – we’ll see if the sitemap picks up any activity…
I meant to delete that…sorry. I was worried that the way I asked it before wasn’t clear. Not trying to be spammy.
In reply to: How to add registration form to front pageOk…I’ve got it figured out now and have put the registration form both in a sidebar and a separate page, tested them, and it works. I copied and pasted the form from register.php.
I had to make 3 tweaks:
1. Correct the form action as explained by Brajesh http://buddydev.com/forums/topic/move-registration-to-index-page-1
2. Remove lines 12 “ and 282 “ from register.php.
3. Change line 166 to “ – This was because I DO want to allow blog creation, but I DON’T want people doing it when the register. There are a lot of threads out there asking how to do this and this trick works.
Also, make sure you include the javascript below the form as well.
In reply to: Filtering out Activity Stream stuffOk then, I’d also need to add in blog posts and external blog posts (separate plugin)…
In reply to: Filtering out Activity Stream stuffBringing this back…Rich’s plugin doesn’t work anymore. I would use the snip above, but I’m not sure where to find the correct functions in this line:
$nothanks = array(“new_blog_post”, “created_group”, “joined_group”, “new_member”, “friendship_created”, “activity_liked”);I would like to filter OUT new follows (bp-follow plugin), new members, and location updates (mapology).
Any ideas? Thanks!
In reply to: Improving Performance (How do you Cache Buddypress)?W3TC, SuperCache and other caching plugins do work with BP. What doesn’t work is object caching, like memcached. At least, not yet.
I kid you not, this plugin works. There are some warnings on the authors website about sub-domain multisite installs, so i’ve only got it on my main blog. But my spam is way down. Nothing in the last 7 hours. Unheard of for me.
Ok…2 days now and my total spammer count is only 10. I can’t prove it, but this plugin does seem to be working. For what it’s worth, I’ve got the Project Honeypot part working along with the Stop Forum Spam.
If you are getting bombarded with spam, try this out and see if it helps.
In reply to: Plugin commanderI’ve got the latest wordpress multisite and BP and plugin commander works great for me.
In reply to: Places PluginCheck this out:
http://shop.shabushabu.eu/plugins/mapology.htmlI’ve got it installed for 24 hours and, so far, nothing blocked in the cache. HOWEVER, I’ve only had 4 spammers sign up in the last 24 hours, where i usually get 30 or so every day. Maybe it works, but doesn’t report properly? I can report, no negative side-effects.
I’ll keep on this and report back if the spammer load stays low.

You need a tester?
Found it…thanks @aces !
Robots Meta plugin was adding webmaster info that was already there.
Gotcha. Obviously. Thanks!
Here’s my list of possibilities:
wp-includes/js/l10n.js
wp-includes/js/prototype.js
wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/global.js
wp-includes/js/scriptaculous/wp-scriptaculous.js,wp-includes/js/scriptaculous/builder.js
wp-includes/js/scriptaculous/effects.js
wp-includes/js/scriptaculous/dragdrop.js
wp-includes/js/scriptaculous/slider.js
wp-includes/js/scriptaculous/controls.jsDigging deeper, the problem is Memcached. Has anyone been able to get object caching like memcached or xcache to work with Buddypress?
@r-a-y put together a solution that worked for caching and private messaging https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/persistent-caching-and-private-messaging
Maybe this is in a similar family…
Thanks for your input Paul.
Is this the ticket you were thinking of?
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2636
Looks like it’s been bumped to BP 1.4.
This user was using W3TC and had the same issue – and that’s a popular plugin here in the community. As anyone found a fix?
Just disabled batcache by removing object-cache.php and advcanced-cache.php and defining caching as false in wp-config. Not only does it work now, but the broken permalinks are fixed.]
Blog comments were always fine – there must be something regarding BP/bbpress that isn’t caching-aware. Or, because batcache isn’t supposed to apply to logged-in users, maybe there is something about bbpress where cookies aren’t recognized.
Any ideas? Is there a bat-phone I can call for help?
Still struggling here – it’s not my theme, plugins, and I can’t find any documentation that caching would screw up permalinks. Even some gurus are stumped.
My question now: Is there a way to “reset” my install to account for a possible glitch? I’ve reinstalled WP and BP but that doesn’t help, so maybe it’s a database error?
Aargh.
In reply to: Allowing Users to Customize Their Background ImageGotcha. I was thinking of a color-picker ala twitter. Of course most would probably use images anyway. Sounds great @r-a-y
Any way to differentiate between a sub-blog post image and a main blog update? I’d like to size blog post images like thumbnails, but allow for larger images in regular bp activity updates.
Thanks Bowe!
In reply to: Allowing Users to Customize Their Background ImageCan users pick colors?

Did you end up buying this? How well does it work?
