Thanks for the code – I had to do a couple more tweaks since I run BP on a secondary blog.
1. Redefine the BP_ACTIVATION_SLUG in bp-custom.php
2. Changed the URL on line 127 of wp-activate-users.php from /activate/activate?key to /myblog/activate?keyThe Users-WP Activate Users page is still a little wonky. After activating a user, it stops…[Read more]

Not sure, but it is probably done in the Buddypress menu.
Buddypress – General Settings – Disable activity stream commenting on blog and forum posts? YES
and/or
Buddypress – Component Setup – Activity Streams: Allow users to post activity updates and track all activity across the entire site. NO -

I followed the directions on that page when I installed BP. It was a fresh install; BP has always lived on blog #2. BP is running fine on my secondary blog. It’s the root blog (and its directory) that is giving me headaches. This may be a WP problem instead of BP, but I’m trying […]

I am running WP 3.0.4 multi-site (subdirectory) + BP 1.2.7. Buddypress is installed on a secondary blog, /community. When we set it up, we could not use the root blog at blogs.otis.edu/, so I have tried to hide it, with moderate success. The DNS redirects blogs.otis.edu/ to blogs.otis.edu/community. New users are added as subscribers to […]

Love the theme! I have it activated on my blog, https://blogs.otis.edu/community. However, I’m having trouble with the Members functions. First, when viewing a member’s page, there is only one button for join/cancel. The buttons for sending a message and @mentions do not appear. Second, sometimes I have to reload the Members tab to get lists […]

Thank you. Alas, I won’t be able to update to 1.2.6 until mid-December. The main blog, The Otis Times, has a Flickr feed in its sidebar, which will keep IE users in pop-up warnings for a long while.

@r-a-y Hallo! I hope that you can help me. I am trying to get the gravatars on my site to load using SSL. Even though the site runs on HTTPS, all of the gravatars still point to http://www.gravatar.com instead of secure.avatar.com. I’ve poked around the code and lots of the files have the is_ssl() function.
I’ve been trying to implement some of the code…[Read more]

Looks fine to me… all avatars appear to run off of HTTPS, the only problem I see is you’re linking to an image that isn’t SSL.
The item is loading from widgets.twimg.com.

Btw, the newest BP release doesn’t require the code snippet listed in the ticket.

I meant to say that SSL support for gravatars was added in BP 1.2.4.

How can I enable super admins to be able to change a user’s avatar. In some cases, I want to change the auto-generated gravatar or to replace an image that is not appropriate. Thanks for any help.
I am running WP-MS 3.0.1/BP 1.2.5.2.

Is there a plugin or hack to better manage user comments? In the Dashboard, I’d like to be able to sort the list of comments by Author, Date, and In Response to. It would also be helpful to see all comments by a user on a blog, whether that list was available from the user’s […]

Question – how do you change the label of the $adminbarPages 1 & 2 to default to the name of the custom menus? In other words, I don’t want to hardcode the labels into the navbar. Instead, I’d like it to display the Custom Menu names.
Thanks.

Good question, and the answer would certainly make the plugin more user-friendly in a WP3.0 environment. Let me see if I can figure it out with some help from my friendly neighborhood coding gurus 🙂
-
@hcleary sadly this is not something at all straightforward, I have been trying to do this from the beginning the intention was never to hardcode these labels always to take the label from the user created menu name.
