| WordPress Origin Story | I started building with WordPress in 2008, after the birth of my second child. I created the site ChicagoActons to share pictures of my growing family with relatives around the country. That led to building a site for a family friend’s band in exchange for Buffalo Wild Wings, and eventually some paying gigs. My first WordCamp was in 2010 and during that experience it was solidified that I had found my people and my platform. Now, I build custom themes, plugins, and full websites for clients of all types. I also serve as a consultant brought in to solve specific technical issues, mostly related to WooCommerce/Woo Subscriptions, API integrations, and performance optimization. I remain committed to the community and have organized several WordCamps in Chicago, and have spoken and volunteered at countless others. |
