I’m not sure that anything has been deprecated? Using the approach I mentioned was just an alternative to how you used to do things, which you indicated wasn’t working post 2.1 upgrade. If the latest update is overriding buddypress.css then this is something that may need a Trac ticket

In your child theme directory you should have a file called style.css

Make sure your custom styles are inside that file.

Considering you’ve tested unsuccessfully on an unmodified Twenty Twelve – Thirteen – Fourteen, it might be worth making the core dev team aware of the problem by opening a Trac ticket:

This is actually something specific to the theme you’re using. Which theme are you using?

Look into WP multisite. It will allow you to have multiple sub domains use a single database.

It sure is possible but you’ll need to write a custom function to handle the behaviour. The hook you’ll need is messages_message_sent. It fires after a private message has been sent successfully.

@danbp I’ve used Hashbuddy in the past and remember it to be a very good plugin!

@julia_b I just re-read your question. I’m now wondering what exactly you mean by tag someone? If you mean @-mention someone then email alert settings are available but if you meant hashtag someone #henrywright (which is what I originally thought you meant but am now not so sure) then that sort of functionality isn’t standard.
