BuddyCamp is still a kernel of an idea. It was something @mikepratt and I were working on about a year ago. Our initial idea was to hold the first one in Chicago as at the time it was convenient to the both of us. No other plans are in the works at this time.

Before performing such a major upgrade (both WordPress and BuddyPress), you should backup your database. Next, it is always best to be safe than sorry. Deactivate all plugins. This means BuddyPress too, as it is a WordPress plugin. Once WP is up and running, it is time to upgrade BuddyPress. You should read the additional […]

Jeff Sayre posted on the forum topic Getting User's Full Name from user_id in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 14 years, 3 months ago
You’re making it more difficult than need be.
Just use the function bp_core_get_user_displayname() found in bp-core.php. You can give it a userid and it will spit out the user’s fullname. Just make sure that you echo the output as follows:
echo bp_core_get_user_displayname( $userid )

The widget is not fully compatible with WP 3.0 — as indicated by the “Compatible” tag in the Plugin Info on this page. Thank you for your suggestions on improving the widget. I am not sure when I will get around to investigating what needs to be tweaked to make it work flawlessly in WP […]

A plugin’s readme.txt file is your friend. It can answer many of the common questions you may have about a given plugin. Your question is answered on the first sentence of the Installation section. From the Installation section of the readme.txt file for BuddyPress Links: ” Notice: This plugin is under heavy development, and is not […]

@petekyle – The primary focus of the Privacy Component is to offer users to ability to control who has access to which pieces of their data. But, as I described above, along with restricting access to only logged in users, there will be a Maintenance Mode setting that sends everyone except Site Admins to a […]

With BuddyPress 1.2.5.1 hot off the press, we turn our eyes to the next big release — BuddyPress 1.3. But to make this happen, we need the continued help of the community. Currently, there are 10 listed bugs assigned to BP 1.2.6 and 155 bugs assigned directly to BP 1.3. Whereas not all of these […]

I agree we need to get trunk synced with branch, and work toward keeping it the bleeding-edge version once again.

My BuddyPress Privacy Component is nearing completion, almost ready for a rigorous second beta testing — although the plugin is very-well tested and could be considered an RC if not a fully-fledged first public release. There are a few Trac tickets that I have yet to submit that will be required to be implemented in […]
