In reply to: Styling BuddyPress
Sorry for the delay. Thank you very much. I am using a child theme and I am placing the changes inside my child theme custom CSS area. Other changes were applied but this one was not because obviously something else is overriding this change. I will do this again now and see how things work and I will post here.
Thanks

I changed the related styles in my theme and in the “js”. I am pretty sure I miss something!
Even when I changed overflow to fixed inside #whats-new-option I inspect it again and find it auto.In reply to: Styling BuddyPress@Chester99 did you have similar issue and you were able to resolve it?
In reply to: Styling BuddyPress@shpitzyl @danbp I followed and applied what you said and it didn’t work. I even made the direct changes inside bp-legacy> buddypress.js and did not work. I deleted the file buddypress.js and made a test to post an update and I was able to post an update and the styling problem was still there.
The only way to solve this is giving the text box of post an update a fixed width that remains the same before and after we post an update. To solve this we need to cancel the auto hide for the textbox.
I wish this helps!
In reply to: Styling BuddyPress@shpitzyl Thank you for the guidance.
In reply to: Styling BuddyPressI don’t think this is a theme related issue.
Today I added the BuddyPress Activity Privacy plugin and for some reason post update becomes better styled but I still have the same problem. I am willing to resolve it no matter what.
I have a question, how can I create a new buddypress.js file in a way similar to the functions.php file in a child theme. Can I do this (if yes. How?) or I have to make direct adjustments on that file and keep updating it with every release? I made direct adjustments on that file anyway and it didn’t solve the problem. Is there any other file related to the post update button?
Thanks
In reply to: Create a groupI tried this solution but it limits the whole website to use only one menu. For me the menus are as follow:
Logged out users: Home//Resources//Blog//Sign in// Register (Horizontal Masthead)
Logged in users: Log out//and the complete buddypress menu (Vertical masthead) for buddypres.Buddypress menu is not included in the first menu and it has it’s own menu and the solution above doesn’t help create more than logged in and logged out menus.
Thanks!
In reply to: A True Activity LikeThe styles for the number of likes is different than the styles for the number of comments. This is why I wish we have this out of the box. I posted this comment to the plugin developer anyway.
Thanks!
In reply to: A True Activity LikeI wish we have both the wall and the likes configured with buddypress out of the box. This would be a great and highly appreciated improvement.
Thanks!
In reply to: Styling BuddyPressI use Vellum wordpress theme
In reply to: Styling BuddyPressI tried the above code and inserted it in my custom CSS and it didn’t work. I also changed the buddypress.js following codes to 50px and it didn’t work!
jq('form#whats-new-form textarea').animate({ height:'20px' jq('#whats-new-form textarea').animate({ height:'20px' });This is the only thing I am unable to customize in buddypress!
Thanks
In reply to: Styling BuddyPress@ danbp – Thank you for your efforts in helping me. What you suggested did not work.
I will explain what caused this problem and the steps I have done trying to resolve this problem based on what you suggested.
I did the following:
1) I edited buddypress.js file and changed the following two fields from 20px to 50px:
`});
jq(‘form#whats-new-form textarea’).animate({
height:’20px’
});`
andjq('#whats-new-form textarea').animate({ height:'20px'2) I added the following to my CSS:
#buddypress #whats-new-options { overflow: fixed; height: 50; }post update appears with no problems but when I click on the text area to start typing the problem appears again.
What caused the problem is the following custom CSS:
#buddypress button, #buddypress a.button, #buddypress input[type=submit], #buddypress input[type=button], #buddypress input[type=reset], #buddypress ul.button-nav li a, #buddypress div.generic-button a, #buddypress .comment-reply-link, a.bp-title-button { border: 4px solid #888; font-size: 1.0rem; }If I delete the above two lines, everything will be fine with post update button. The problem is more like container or margin, something like that.
Thanks!
In reply to: Styling BuddyPressI am fine with the auto overflow as long as when I click on the text I can see [post update] in full as it should be.
In reply to: Styling BuddyPressI tried all of these codes to remove this but non worked!
element.style { height: 50px; } #buddypress #whats-new-options { overflow: fixed; } #buddypress form#whats-new-form textarea { background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #fff; color: #555; font-family: inherit; font-size: 100%; height: 50px; padding: 6px; width: 100%; } #buddypress form#whats-new-form #whats-new-content { margin-left: 55px; margin-bottom: 50px; padding: 0 0 20px 20px; }What happens is that when the page loads I see [ post update ] in correct CSS but it becomes hidden under the text area because of the auto overflow; it disappears. When I click on the text area I see what I have provided in the above image! I can’t remove those two arrows beside [post update].
Thanks!

In reply to: WordPress and buddypress different themesUse Magento free extension [FishPig]
I am not sure if this will work yet.In reply to: Create a groupWhat I have done is that I used a plugin that hides the admin bar for all the users (logged in and logged out) and users can’t see or use the toolbar. When the user is logged in, s/he can see the profile link in the menu which takes him/her to the default buddyPrss profile and s/he can start from there. That’s why if create group exist under the profile tab (without admin) it would make my life easier.
The theme I am using is not helping me to go around this and that’s why I was thinking of using a different theme that is BuddyPress ready.
In reply to: WordPress and buddypress different themesThank you. That was really helpful.
I want to evaluate the whole situation because I will use Magento for e-commerce on store.mydomain.com and I don’t know if this will work when I use fishPig.
I will build a huge website, I was thinking that instead of running multiple websites, I will run one with several subdomains and this will offer more concentration on the same brand. In reply to: [Resolved] Customise register pageI would like to see more improvements regarding the registration page where users can show/hide their real names. Is this possible out of the box without plugins?
In reply to: WordPress and buddypress different themesIs it a recommended idea?
In reply to: Create a groupI have these two links:
http://www.DOMAIN.com/members/USERNAMES/groups/ – Appears under buddypress in the menu- (and)
http://www.DOMAIN.com/groups/ – Appears under pages in the menu –I have the first one available to the registered users and it disappears when the user signs out, however, the second one doesn’t disappear when a user signs out. I am willing to make the second link unavailable when a user signs out. How to do this?
Thanks
