| WordPress Origin Story | I started off in 2005 with the goal of developing an online resource that would provide pertinent information on HIV/AIDS for people from my home-country in Africa which at that time was one of the hardest hit by HIV/AIDS. I have no formal training as a website designer/developer, so I wanted a system that I could easily learn and use on my own, out of the box. I also wanted an open-source system, as cost was a big factor in my considerations. After trying a few of the other systems on the market, WordPress became the obvious answer. Soon, I had people coming to me asking me to design and develop websites for them. Today, I run a growing web design and development company with over 10 developers. |
