John James Jacoby posted on the forum topic Some Users get memory error or white screen of death, while others don't in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 13 years, 7 months ago
@brentjacobsen – Do you have access to your PHP/apache error logs to see where exactly the memory error is happening? How much available memory is being allocated to PHP? Remember that the more custom PHP code you pull in (with plugins, elaborate themes, etc…) is the bigger that buffer gets, and eventually it’ll pop once it […]

John James Jacoby posted on the forum topic WordPress Nightly Breaks Buddypress in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 13 years, 7 months ago
This will be a non-issue when the bbPress plugin eventually replaces the stand-alone version currently included in BuddyPress. Until then, the next version of BuddyPress will continue to work the same as before in this regard. Props @djpaul for being on the case. π

@nexla Sorry, I honestly am not sure what it is that you’re trying to say. Unless I am totally losing it, you started this topic in regards to the BuddyPress global constant in the title. I provided a solution to that in BuddyPress trunk and a screen shot of it in the works. Is there […]

Sorry Michael. We do not delete accounts on any of the .org sites. They include important context to all activity you’ve engaged in since you created your account. The only information made available is the information you made available.

John James Jacoby posted on the forum topic Child themes are not being accepted to the REPO at this time in the group Creating & Extending: 13 years, 8 months ago
The lack of BP theme authors, and the newness and complexities of supporting child themes in the repo makes this an easy target for confusion for everyone. I remember glancing over Ottoβs update but I never got a heads up it was official for BP. Unless it’s just alwas been that way and it predates […]

No support for child themes in the repo yet, at least not officially. I think a few old reliable ones may be in there as special cases. Chances are for BP specific child themes to make it into the repo, it would also need to be a WordPress theme that would work just fine without […]

Sounds like your web host is heading you off at the pass and forcing a smaller memory limit. Who is your host?

Your web host and/or hosting package aren’t providing your site enough memory to load BP up. By chance are you running a non-English installation?

In BP 1.3 you’ll be able to use XProfile Field Meta to do exactly this, although no examples of it are currently in the development build.

I think you need to either a) effectively block spam on this site, or b) have a way…[Read more]
