I unzipped and created the folder buddystream and put all the files in there. In my plugins upload box it says “Install a plugin in .zip format” so it won’t let me upload the folder. Is there another way to upload it?

I did upload the buddypress zip file to my /wp-content/plugins/ folder but it doesn’t show up in my plugins in my admin panel

I can’t even get the plug in to upload. I get this message when I try
The uploaded file could not be moved to /home/ab9988/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2010/10. I then manually put the file in this folder and it still doesn’t show up on my plugins page.-
you need to upload the files to your /wp-content/plugins/ folder

you mean you uploaded the .zip file in there? well, this is what I did.
1. Unzip
2. I created a folder ‘buddystream’ and put all the files in there
3. Upload the folder ‘buddystream’ in /pluginsit should work

um do you use FTP? That’s the easiest way to upload them, otherwise you need to manually create all the folders and upload files individually, that’d be a pain 😡

It makes sense. Just not sure how to execute that. I have very limited php skills. Is there a code that you might have that I can copy and then I can put it in the folder it needs to go in? If not then I will just have to wait for your update. Thanks for all of your help.

I’m using a plain wp page. Is there a way I can get the activity page to come up instead of the home page when you type in the url for my website?
-
If you make your homepage a page that uses a page template called Home then it should work.
The issue is you are telling WP to use a certain front page and the mobile theme doesnt know what that page is. Working on a hijack but until then you will have to either use a page template.
-
also wanted to say, It’s not broken thats how WP works. You just have to fix the mobile theme to call the same front page via a page template. the mobile theme will grab the same page template name and show that instead of the page template you are using for your regular theme.
Does that make sense? It’s a bit of a switcheroo

Go into your themes folder, not the plugin but your regular theme folder. Duplicate the file page.php and name it front.php. Then add this to the top of that page and save it.
/*
Template Name: Home
*/Then do into your admin >> pages and choose that page template for your home page.

The category’s aren’t showing up on my iphone. Like forums, activity, groups etc. Is there anything I need to do to have them show up?

I don’t understand what you are asking. Do you mean front page links?

If you are using a page template that is not the BP activity or blog posts page then you will have to edit a file. In the plugin folder go into the themes/default and change the file front.php code
/*
Template Name: Home

This does not work. When you click to go to the next page it just goes to a blank page. I was able to get rid of the load more. Is there a way or code that I can use to get it to work when you click on the page 2, page 3, etc?

I do use that plugin and it’s great but the riffy plugin where they give the user an option to leave a webcam or audio comment is really neat. That way my members would have the option of either leaving a text, webcam or audio comment.

I was wondering if there was a plugin like this https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/riffly/ that would work for buddypress. I would love to let my users have the option of leaving audio/video comments in the activity stream. I have wordpress 3.0 and buddypress 1.2.4

Your avatar URLs appear to be missing the leading “http:”. I think I remember reading about this bug before. You can temporarily fix this by defining your BP_CUSTOM_URL in wp-config.php to: define( ‘BP_AVATAR_URL’, ‘http:///nijmegeneet.nl/club/wp-content/uploads’ ); I did this and as you can see there are three backslashes in the code. Hence the…[Read more]
