PHP 7 also has some useful features that us developers would love to use. <p>Put all of your global CSS properties into style.css. for example, styles that related to your header, footer and main templates and then conditionally enqueue stylesheets that are used less regularly so that they&#8217;re only loaded when absolutely necessary.</p>

<p>bp_friend_get_total_requests_count(), bp_notifications_get_unread_notification_count() and messages_get_unread_count() are actually functions. I do believe each returns a count. Regarding comments, are you looking for a function that gets the comment count?</p>

<p>In version 1.0.2, I&#8217;ve addressed the problem of the mystery-man displaying for existing users when the plugin is first activated. There&#8217;s now no need to wait until their next login to get their identicon. Identicons are available for display for everyone when needed.</p>

I actually made a mistake by including the lighbox hurriedly. I am updating to have an option to disable it.</p>

<p>The same code as either a plugin or as part of core should weigh the exact same on a site. Plugins only slow down or bloat a site if they are written badly. In theory you could have 100 plugins running with not much noticeabe impact on performance. Then you could have one bad plugin that grinds your site to a halt.</p>

One thing to watch out for, the price quoted on their splash page is for a 24 mo contract. I found myself paying an extra £10 a month for a rolling monthly contract. Their SSL cert costs extra too.
