    Looks like it’s working. Thanks a heap.

    Tried that code and it didn’t work. It seemed to have no effect at all.

    *Update*

    Now it’s redirecting to the WordPress admin page for a user account. Not the super admin for the site, but just the account. Not sure I recall editing anything for this to happen.

    Nevermind. I think I have some stuff sorted.

    Well, it sort of half works now.

    So I already had installed wp mail smtp, got all that setup…
    So then I updated the buddypress plugin with the newest version that I think dropped today.
    Then I installed wp better emails, reinstalled/reinstated emails in tools->buddypress, and the activation email thing works.

    The only issue I’m having now is that I can activate the account, but I can’t login because it says that the password is incorrect, even though it isn’t. So that’s progress anyway.

    But I’m not sure what to do now.

    So if I go to the login area of my site, I enter my username and password, and then it sends me to a default WordPress login page. So I enter the info again, and it says that it’s the incorrect password. Should I basically be logging in twice like that? Once on my site, then once via the default WordPress login, only to be denied access?

    How is it different then? I don’t understand.

    Yes. My site is on WordPress. They host my domain.

    I was trying to quote myself. Didn’t mean to send that twice.

    So WordPress tells me to tell you that my site is hosted at WordPress and that I don’t have ftp access.

    This also showed up red

    Capability Checks

    For performance reasons, this panel is not enabled by default. To enable it, add the following code to your wp-config.php file:

    define( ‘QM_ENABLE_CAPS_PANEL’, true );

    I thought I did. Where do I turn it on?

    Ok. I’m seeing the query monitor thing now.

    I dunno. I’m no expert, but I do know enough to not start clicking extra things when you aren’t entirely sure what to do.

    I say that because all I started with was installing buddy press. Got the register thing up and running, and ran into this problem straight away.

    Chatted with WordPress who helped me find a thread here which is where I installed WP Mail SMTP, which will send a test email just fine, but nothing else. I even see that you registered.

    @meridioinc

    Ok. Installed query monitor and debug bar. Now what do I do?

    @meridioinc

    Participant

    Not sure how that link doesn’t work. I just clicked it and it worked just fine.

    Are query Monitor and Debug Bar plugins or other software?

    @meridioinc

    Participant

    Diagnostics? Good questions. Debug is on. No errors. Wp mail sends test emails fine, but no activation email working.

    @meridioinc

    Participant

    Nevermind. The thing I thought I hadn’t done I had already done. :-/

    @meridioinc

    Yes. I installed WP Mail SMTP and tried all that. Though I’m seeing something I may not have tried so I’m going to give that a go and see what happens.
