Now that I have been messing with it I think it’s a BP usability issue. On blog and forum posts activity stream notices when you click view it sends you to the actual content but other things go to the activity permalink page.

Yes, the BuddyPress permalink thing is a usability headache. One of the first things we have to do when building a site is remove the “view” links, usually before the client clicks on them and tells us they don’t do anything.
-
I agree: those permalink views are a pain in the butt. Can you clue me in on how to remove the links?

More like links doesnt work with my plugin. I have it using BP’s link structure but the links plugin doesnt work teh same way. I’ve messaged teh developer to try and work out why their plugin view link goes to the permalink and not the actual content.

@MrMaz Hello, I created a tweet button plugin and want to get it to work with buddypress links. The issue is your plugin doesn’t update the view link to link to the actual content but to the permalink page. Blog posts, forum posts and updates all link to the actual content. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Just read that there was a code problem on twitters end that caused those pop ups but it has been fixed.

Try deleting plugin and re installing from repo

I did that a couple of times. When viewing the source the code looks like this – http://pastebin.com/USKbRP6S
-
Ok, it doesn’t work with the plugin “External Links”

I suggest you install the SEO buddypress plugin. It’s gives you control over the titles.

Fixed activity links. Sent update to repo. If your activity links are off delete plugin and re install.

I had it on hold. I’m thinking I’ll create a basic mobilized default theme and do the app down the road.

You dont need it. Twitter has created the button if you are not logged in it will ask you to before submitting the tweet.

I’ll add some more options. I’ll have to look at the code for adding to subnav. Id this for tweeting a group home page? One of the challenges of doing a plugin like this is accommodating various themes and making the placement fit in.
