There is no activity privacy feature in 1.7. Google friends only activity stream. I think a plugin already exists. You can look through plugin as an example of code

explain more about your set up. multisite? using custom themes? plugins? Sounds like you are using template pack on various sub sites, yes?

The plugin doesn’t turn off for non logged in users. Something with your theme, a plugin or cache is blocking BuddyShare.

If you are using the BuddyPress template pack then deactivate it.

what @hnla said plus I want to add we should use the WordPress codex as a template on how to structure the content. People are familiar with WordPress and it makes sense to display the content as such.

in the custom theme folder it is most likely missing the create.php file in the blogs folder
