This function was the cause of most of my nightmares this last few months, and was the first thing fixed in gPress 0.2.5, which no longer has Foursquare functionality built into core – the new version should be released this coming weekend, so please stay tuned…

This feature has been completely removed from the up-coming release scheduled for the weekend…

This will hopefully be resolved with gPress 0.2.5, which should be released by this coming weekend…

  • @neosmedia – this feature will be added very soon, it’s quite close to the top of the list, and MAY even get squeezed-in to the 0.2.5 release that is scheduled for this coming weekend… @altisona – it would be nice if we could keep the gPress forums relevant to gPress, rather than trying to use it as […]

This is the first report I have had to say that it doesn’t – so perhaps it doesn’t – hard for me to test without having a copy of the theme. If you would like to ZIP something-up and provide a link for me to download, I will do my best to try and get […]

  • @ronia – with our recent corporate sponsorship with Laulima, part of their end-goal is to see other third-party location providers integrated into the plugin, so this is most certainly part of our long-term roadmap, but cannot say for sure when it will get added as the Laulima list is a long one, and you will soon […]

@philkan – thanks for the support and encouragement, we have a lot planned for the future…

We are hoping to release this coming weekend, and would love to include a German version of gPress 0.2.5. If you are interested in translating, please take a look at the new .po file:

As you’ve no doubt started to hear, gPress 0.2.5 is very close to being released. The initial plan was to wait for WordPress 3.1 to be officially released, just to be sure things were smooth between the two. In the meantime, one of the only things I have left to do is test gPress on a few other of my non-default test-beds and see how it responds…[Read more]

In what way do you see the two working together…?

gPress 0.2.5 has loads of new hooks and filters that can be used for several things, as seen in the “gpress-examples” folder now included with the plugin, but until I work on specific case-uses, its hard to predict exactly what filters to put where. It would also rely upon BP Media adding code…[Read more]

It may indeed be possible – but would first need to wait until 0.2.5 is released, which should be by this coming weekend at the latest…

This whole module has now been removed, and the next version of gPress – 0.2.5 is just around the corner, where issues such as this should be a thing of the past…

The roadmap has changed somewhat since then, and will be publishing the latest official roadmap sometime this week, with an eventual release slated for the coming weekend…

gPress 0.2.5 will be released very soon, at which point, I will be able to provide some help if you are still having problems…

Was planning to wait for WP 3.1 to be released first, as we are pretty much done with gPress 0.2.5, so by this weekend at the latest me thinks… :p

At the moment, BuddyPress support includes user location and sitewide “blog post” activity, which link back to the original posts. More BuddyPress components will be geo-tagged soon and are already part of the roadmap…

    • @msmalley Thanks for the good response Mark. Would geo-tagged components (like geo-tagged activity) be a part of Buddypress core upgrade or a new feature of the gPress plugin. At this point, I’m just looking for a timeline on how quickly we could implement such a thing. Thanks again for your good time and response.

      • Due to Geo-Tagged activities not being part of the sponsored Laulima requisites, its a feature that will not be added until after 0.2.6, and this next round, from 0.2.5 to 0.2.6 is going to take quite some time, as there are a LOT of updates required – as seen in our roadmap – http://gpress.my/roadmap/

        • Hmmm… is there a way to tag BP activity based on the user’s profile – location – much the way Twitter tags posts with locale?
I’m keen on working on some good solutions with what is available and evolving from there.

I’d also like to find out how we can work with Laulima as we set out to build a geo-friendly site. Please let me know the best…[Read more]

          • @AvatarRocks – At the moment, there is no way (out of the box) to add locations to activity updates, but it is real close to the top of the list, and seems to be something a lot of people are interested in, so how exactly do you see it working…? Regardless of whether each activity can be given its own location or not, where we would add the…[Read more]

            • Hello Mark, thanks for the good reply. Basically we’re trying to keep our platform as simple and easy to use for our members as possible – without having to fuss with blog posts, access to the dashboard, etc. The geo-tags for activity don’t have to be too fancy to begin with. Maps for each activity are not required. Basically I see it working much…[Read more]

            • @msmalley hey Mark, please let me know the best way to reach you about these geo-tag ideas before writing it out to Laulima. Please shoot me an email… Jeff@Vybee.com …We’re getting into developments of our next phase, and look forward to figure out some simple solutions and more savvy ideas.

  • Seems I lost all my followers, following, groups, updates and listed forum posts here in the BuddyPress.org community – must thank @otto42 for getting me back on trac and re-connected to gPress, where I’ll be giving an update soon…
