I too are in this vote but also i would like for profile updates, change their profile pictures to not show up on the sites activity feed. I have tried the code above but it does not appear to do nothing after adding to the child themes function.php. Please help very much appreciated.
Sorry it does remove the friendships made and blog posts from the drop down but not from the activity streams.

Im having some trouble with finding what i want to change within the .pot file. And also will this not change the naming of Forum to Date-Forum in many other places as well. Sorry i am lost.

Great idea but doesnt quite work for me as this method is going to change the wording throughout the site.
On the groups home page i have the links menu to – Home Forum Members. I just need to change Forum to Date-Forum
