@nuprn1 Aha! That fixed it. And I burst out laughing at the Python reference; “Come and see the violence inherent in the system. Help! Help! I’m being repressed!” Jabberwocky, was it..? 😛

@nuprn1 Jeez, had to go all over here in circles, as the email notification link took me to the home page. Anyway…
The error with it installed, but nothing set at all to block, is two lines;

@nuprn1; Yep, that works, and saves a little db space too. However, I discovered today that your Block Activity plugin causes Group creation to fail at the final stage, though as I said in a note to you, it could be a theme clash for all I know. I think it’s useful to have the details […]

This is a simple rehash of some old code by @nuprn1 (thanks Rich), and filters out various activity messages to keep the stream from clogging up. Put the following in your theme’s functions.php file, and modify as desired; // Remove (hide) various activities from streams. function my_hidden_activities($a, $activities) { //if admin we want to know…[Read more]

@nuprn1 Hi Rich. I’ve modified an old bit of code of yours (which saved me a lot of time, thanks!) and am using it to filter out activity stream stuff we don’t want to see. Your Block Activities plugin seemed ok, but with or without types set in Admin, it was crashing out with an error in the last stage of creating a group. Thinks it’s for the…[Read more]

Thanks Rich, I presume it’s this part of the topic.php file I need to change.Do you have any idea of what it should look like to just post the date and time?

@nuprn1 Or is this about remove_action and add_action? I found the groups_post_update but I can’t change it with my theme’s functions.php file. Because there’s a problem with filter or action thing… Actually I don’t know how to replace functions with my_sample_function. For example I want to change something in the plugin’s function. But if I do […]

@nuprn1 Great! Finally I got where the function is. Thanks.
But how can I redefine the function to skip group_is_member process for the non-members to post.
I think I’ll add this to my function this:
add_filter (‘groups_post_update’, ‘myfunction’);
Right? But what’s the function 🙂

@nuprn1 I know and I tried to remove it. When I remove the code, I can see the post-form but when a non-member tries to post something to the group, it says “couldnt update your status. please try again later. The problem is it’s still checking somewhere else to see whether the member joined or not. […]

@nuprn1; Hey Rich. I’ve had a few nasties happen with this plugin, but nothing so bad I recorded it. I know; meh.
My questions is, can you populate the ‘types to block’ list somehow so the user doesn’t have to try and figure it out if an activity type isn’t listed?

@nuprn1 it’s http://www.sharespeak.co.uk and the widget is only on the homepage at the moment. You should see the strange symbol I’m talking about. Let me know what you think, Ross 🙂 I can send you a copy of my bp-custom.php file too if you like. I have only 2 functions in it, your widget and a […]

Can you not replicate the issue or does it all work fine your end? Thanks!

@nuprn1 when using the standalone widget it works but before each forum name is a black diamond with a question mark in it? Is it an unrecognised character? Any ideas? It isn’t there when I use the forum index plugin but I only need the widget.

Sorry, only wish I can be dev like everyone here. I normally copy/cut paste in different areas. I’m willing to try if you point to right direction. When code is posted, it’s like foreign language. Does that mean it’s not topic for discussion?
