Just getting ready to launch our school’s buddypress site (barkapta.com) and I’ve run into a problem. It seems as though new users can’t register. Yup – it’s version 6! We have it at my work … it’s hard to believe but we do! Hopefully most other people don’t have this version, just the slow company I work for. I don’t want to pay for a theme b/c it’s just for our PTA (non-profit school organization).

I set up this site last night using BP Columns 1.2 – and was so happy with it … until I tried opening it in an older version of IE and YUK! Any workarounds or other theme suggestions? I’m brand new with this and uber excited! Here’s my site:

@pisanojm @pisanojm – just wanted to thank you again for your help the other day. thought you may be interested in the resolution. the htttp 500 error was caused by not having enough memory. my web hosting company increased my memory quota and then i was good to go! buddypress seems really easy to work with, i’m very happy with it! my PTA site is…[Read more]

got it working! yay! it was actually no problem that i created on my own (phew!), my web hosting company had to increase my memory quota to get it working. the site is almost there now! it’s pretty easy to set up ! http://www.barkapta.com

@Pisanojm – thanks so much! that worked, i can get back into my site without the error and it was easy to do. now i’m going to try downloading buddypress again and am keeping my fingers crossed that it’ll work this time.

thanks, i just did it through the wordpress admin screen – add plugin. right after i pressed download for the buddpress plugin, i started getting the error. i’m at a loss and hope some guru can help ((please!)) yes, that please was with hugs! lol! seriously though, i need help. thanks so much!
