1) s2member. You’ll likely need to download the zip and upload to your site via ftp ‘cuz it’s a huge plugin.

2) Buddypress includes a private messaging system (kinda like internal email) but there are a few chat plugins available too. See this…[Read more] -

I hear ya! It’s strangely comforting to know I’m not the only one 🙁

Take a look at the Widget Logic plugin. Using conditional tags, widgets can be enabled/disabled on any page you choose. You might find some cues.

@PiManIII I think your last question is moot. Developers will very often create plugins and offer them free under GPL license. Just take a look at the WP plugin repo where you’ll find over 13,000 free plugins: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ But anytime you request something be created or custom-built, it’s best to offer some form of…[Read more]

Take a look at Brajesh’s Global Search. It has functions to return search results for forums, blogs, members, groups and site pages/posts.

pcwriter posted on the forum topic Ant release date set for BP1.3? in the group Miscellaneous: 13 years, 9 months ago
That’s exactly what I was going to do. 🙂
That way, if (and when) things go haywire, one can revert back to a previous version to help track down the impact changes to BP have had in a theme, and what needs to be fixed. -

@hnla @djpaul Thanks for the input guys! And hnla is right, I had neglected to account for the refactoring time required by JJJ. My bad 🙁 I also have a test site running WP3.0.* & BP1.3 trunk (that needs to be updated again this weekend as per the above suggestion) and themes are working OK so far […]

@bpUser It’s a custom theme designed specifically for bp.org. You can find several good themes here: https://buddypress.org/extend/themes/ Or Google ‘buddypress themes’ for more. You might also like my BuddyLite theme. It comes with the following basic customization options: Maximum & Minimum Theme Width Header Height Theme Background Color, Image,…[Read more]

Can’t really compare the two ‘cuz they have completely different products. For instance, WPMUdev is geared mainly toward WordPress with BP as an afterthought, while BuddyDev caters pretty much exclusively to users of BP.

pcwriter posted on the forum topic How to make pages like Groups, Forums, members and updates only accessible to members? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 13 years, 9 months ago
@gvdsleen Once BP1.3 is released, this issue should be resolved as it will use WP pages for components. You will then be able to use s2member’s page access restrictions for components like Members. In the meantime, you can protect any component directory from unauthorized member levels by editing its index.php template. Add the following just after […]

pcwriter posted on the forum topic WP 3.0.4 Multisite Breaks BP Forum in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 13 years, 9 months ago
You just learned the hard way 😉 that when trying to track down a problem, start by deactivating all plugins and revert back to bp-default. Then reactivate things one-by-one, starting with your theme.
9 times out of 10, the problem will be a plugin conflict.

Very cool idea!
Should cut down on the copy/paste/link/embed routine and open up a whole world of sharing possibilities.
And I agree about the badge plugin. Do you know if anyone has stepped up with an offer to continue development? - Load More
