r-a-y posted on the forum topic Editing default template in WP theme editor does not change theme in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 15 years, 5 months ago
It’s not recommend to make changes to the default theme because they will be wiped out when you upgrade BuddyPress. Build a child theme and then try to edit it via the WP Theme Editor and see what happens. If you continue to get the same problem after creating a child theme, reply back and let […]

BuddyPress is not a forum script:

r-a-y posted on the forum topic How can I keep the default WP user registration screen? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 15 years, 5 months ago
Actually it is possible to bypass BP registration using the wp_insert_user() function. It *should* be possible by overriding the /registration/register.php template file in your child theme. But all the good stuff like activating an account would be gone. However, you say you want to use WP’s registration system? Would require a BP core hack I […]

r-a-y posted on the forum topic Some questions about BLOG POSTS in BP. Help please in the group Creating & Extending: 15 years, 5 months ago
Hi Andrea, this isn’t true. A bug was fixed a few weeks ago in bp-blogs-classes.php that wasn’t correctly pulling a user’s blogs. @hnla – Just for sanity’s sake, I tried again. This time via “Super Admin > Blogs”. I clicked “Edit”, then added an existing user to the sub-blog that way. Works. Can you check to […]

I’m in the process of completing a bbPress standalone plugin that adds bbPress forum posts into the BuddyPress activity stream for a site. Requires deep integration.
Might not release it publicly though since bbPress is becoming a WP plugin and I’m not sure how long the bbPress plugin repo will stay up (chances are it’s going to be at least…[Read more]

You could try Buddymatic:
http://freebpthemes.com/themes/buddymatic/It’s a BP version of Thematic. From reading the comments on the release page, it appears Buddymatic is merging into Thematic, which is great news!

A notice doesn’t send a notification though.
It adds a message on the site.Re: the original post – a custom plugin could be made based on the @mention- code to message everyone.

I noticed with database caching on in W3 Total Cache that if someone registered on a BP site, two additional accounts would be created with the same username, but their user ID for each of these new accounts would be different. So unfortunately I had to disable database caching. Haven’t tried W3 Total Cache 0.9 […]

That URL won’t work because it’s an unlisted video. Maybe YouTube will offer oEmbed support for unlisted videos down the line. Try any other video and it should work.

r-a-y posted on the forum topic How to mark a member as a spammer in the group Creating & Extending: 15 years, 5 months ago
What I’m saying is put the xprofile_setup_adminbar_menu() function somewhere in a member template.
http://pastebin.com/0LVSyc3gThen you’ll have access to the admin links.
For BuddyBar for admins, that would also have to be custom-coded.

Instead of re-enabling the admin bar every time, why don’t you just use this xprofile_setup_adminbar_menu() somewhere in your theme?
Make sure you wrap around the function though.Either that, or enable the BuddyBar for admins only.

r-a-y posted on the forum topic template tag for child theme javascript? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 15 years, 5 months ago
Actually thekmen is right.
get_stylesheet_directory_uri() should return the URL to your child theme.
Also, re: TEMPLATEPATH – I’d use STYLESHEETPATH instead.

If you’re simply looking at sending a message, then you’re right! messages_new_message() is the way to go. If you’re looking to modify this private message over time, you can’t do it via a function because such a function doesn’t exist; you’d have to modify the content via the DB. I’m probably just reading into your […]
